Transformation This antique davenport desk was in desperate need of care when it was brought in to us by a customer. A treasured heirloom that had been in the family for over sixty years, this rare piece had suffered severe smoke and heat damage in a house fire. The veneer was peeling, drawers were swollen shut, and water from the fire department hose had stained the entire piece. The owner was doubtful if it was even salvageable. Undaunted, the team of craftsmen and artisans at Ballard Refinishers took up the challenge of repairing and restoring this old-world beauty. Many hours of careful planning and work followed, and with painstaking attention to detail and a deep respect for tradition, they succeeded in bringing it back to its original luster.
